Keep Game Night On Radio

We know that many are listening, but unfortunately with the way radio ratings work it is really hard for us to get a measure. We plan on being back on the airwaves next season somewhere on your radio dial, but nothing has yet to be confirmed. It's hard to believe that we have reached the end of yet another season of Game Night. Our second year of the show marked the first year on the radio and we couldn't have been happier to be on one of the strongest FM signals in this great city. It really says a lot about high school football and how important it is to the all of the communities around the Tristate area. Everyone here at TriStateFootball.com thank all of you for making us part of your season and hope to help continue to be innovators in getting more schools even better coverage. So many hand a hand in making this season the most memorable for us and we would like to say thanks:

What make Bo Cordell such a special QB?

Mark Chalifoux, Community Press asks what makes Bo Cordell a special QB:

It's tough to gauge what makes Cordell a successful quarterback. He says it's his accuracy. "I'm not very fast, so I have to make up with it for my arm," Cordell said. His coach says it's his mental make-up.

"It's his poise and the manner in which he carries himself," head coach Kevin Siple said. "He's a very gifted athlete and I don't want to minimize that, but he just plays the position the ways it's supposed to be played, it's almost like his whole life all he wanted to do is be a quarterback."

DI Regional Finals set for Nippert

Next weekend's Division I regional football final tentatively will be 8 p.m. next Friday (Nov. 16) at the University of Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium. Ohio High School Athletic Association Hank Zaborniak said today that several sites and times have been discussed. OHSAA regulations state that the regional finals must be played at a netural site. Official pairings will be made this Sunday, following this weekend's regional semifinal games.

UPDATE: The Enquirer is also reporting that UC also is making a pitch to host the DI state semis the following weekend (Nov. 23/24).

Tragedy strikes at Princeton

The Princeton High School community is in mourning following the loss of the boys head basketball coach.

School officials say Bill Brewer, 42, was complaining of nausea Thursday afternoon. After practice and a late dinner, Brewer returned home and went to bed, where he suffered an apparent heart attack. CPR was performed and Brewer was rushed to Jewish Hospital in Kenwood. He was pronounced dead early Friday morning.

"This is a tragic loss. Bill was, more than anything, our friend and my brother. He made everyone around him better. Bill represented everything good in people and in education," said Scott Kaufman, Princeton Athletic Director.

Farris still w/chance at Alexander's mark

Boone County is 1,287 yards short of Alexander's mark. If the Rebels were to reach the state finals, and Farris was to rush for 215 yards a game, the record would be his. For the record, he's averaging 223 yards a game now.

Local products headed to '08 All-American Bowl

LaSalle senior wide receiver DeVier Posey and Elder tight end Kyle Rudolph who will play in the 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Posey and Rudolph are two of 84 players selected nationwide for the U.S. Army honor. The 2008 game will be played Jan. 5, 2008 (1 p.m.) at the Alamodome, San Antonio.

Ashley picks Louisville

After much deliberation St. X RB Darius Ashley announced earlier this week that he will be heading to Louisville next fall to play for the Cardinals.

Ashley, rated the No. 14 all-purpose back in the country by Rivals.com, said his final two choices were Louisville and Virginia. He said he received more than 30 offers from Division I colleges and that he pared his original list to Louisville, Virginia, Tennessee, Illinois, Boston College, Wisconsin and West Virginia.

Hoover High coach steps down

Is Hoover Gate finally over?

Hoover head coach Rich Propst and members of the Hoover School Board signed an agreement just before Tuesday's board meeting that covered his resignation, effective at the end of the season, and his reassignment as an administrative assistant to Hoover Superintendent Andy Craig until Aug. 31, 2008.

Propst's regular salary and benefits will continue until that date, and the board agreed to pay him a $120,000 annuity. The two parties also signed a non-disparagement agreement.
