No word yet on ESPN game

Depsite ESPN releasing its Old Spice High School Football Schedule last week that included 14 games, there is still no word on whether the St. Xavier-DeMatha game scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2nd will be on the world wide leader in sports or not. If you remember, Colerain was originally slated ot battle Hoover (AL) on ESPN in that slot, but the AHSAA does not allow schools to play on Sundays and would not waive the clause.

There are reports that talks are continuing between the two sides, but nothing has been announced as yet.

I-Wireless Classic goes dark

The fourth annual i-wireless FOX19 Prep Classic football event at Paul Brown Stadium for 2007 will not happen, at least this season

"Reach Event Marketing has opted to not conduct a 2007 event after successfully operating the last 3 years' Prep Classic events and donating over $300,000.00 to the charities involved, but rather look to build a bigger and better event with its partners and work to unveil that at a later date," Mario Cicchinelli of Reach Marketing said in an e-mail to the Cincinnati Enquirer on Friday.

There is no question about it, the presence of the Herbstreit Challenge no doubt had its affect on the Prep Classic. Now, it appears that event organizers will wait and see if that event can survive another year before they make their next move.

I think three major events is a bit too much, but I did like the Prep Classic as it included good representation from both sides of the river and really sparked interest throughout the Tri-state area.
