Boone County Impresses, Dixie Struggles

It is a real shame that Highlands and Boone County will not play this season. They are clearly the best two teams in NKY right now.

The Rebels furthered the case on Thursday by running all over the Colonels. Farris, who in my opinion is the best running back in NKY and perhaps one of the best in the city, totaled 319 yards on a punishing 42 carries. The Rebels' air attack was potent as well as wide receiver Mercier Doucette tallied 217 yards on two catches. The duo combined for five touchdowns, in what prove to be something of a shootout.

The Colonels' offense made some big plays, but once again it was costly turnovers and mental mistakes that did in Tom Spritzky's crew. Those are characteristics that you wouldn't expect for a senior-laden club like the Colonels. They will try to right the ship next week when they play county rivals Scott. A win there and Dixie could rebound to take the #2 seed in District play, a third straight loss and there playoff hopes could begin to diminsh.
