VOTE: WCPO Player of the Week


Vote for this week's WCPO Player of the Week.

WCPO-TV has partnered with to present the High School Football Player of the Week. Each week 10-14 nominees will be selected from a large list of some of the area’s top performances and will be included in an online voting poll to determine a winner.

The voting opens no later than Monday afternoon each week and ends each Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. Voting is limited to one vote per hour, per IP address. Networks that share a single IP may experience problems in repeating voting, so please be aware of that while casting your vote.

Once a player wins once, they will be ineligible to be nominated a second time.

All of the season winners will be recognized and receive a plaque at the Year in Review shows in January (more details announced during postseason)


Here are this week’s nominations:

DeAndre Barnett, Kings – Picked up 175 yards on the ground, caught two passes for 70 yards, amassed 276 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns all in the second quarter in the Knights’ win over Walnut Hills.

Andrew Conover, Norwood – Completed 18-of-22 passes for 318 yards with five touchdowns and added a score on the ground as the Indians blanked Amelia.

Sam Dressman, CovCath – Finished with 12 carries for 92 yards and caught seven balls for 102 yards while making two trips to the end zone (RuTD, ReTD) in victory over Beechwood.

Jewels Edmerson, Madeira – Had 273 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, racked up 329 all-purpose yards and had 2.0 sacks on defense in the Mustangs’ thrilling 28-21 win over Indian Hill.

Matt Elliott, Oak Hills – Threw for 191 yards and picked up 99 more on the ground while accounting for three TD’s (two passing, one rushing) versus Lakota East.

Jared Gabbard, Lloyd – Tallied 23 carries for 247 yards and three touchdowns as Lloyd outlasted Holy Cross in OT, 28-21.

Layne Harnishfeger, Franklin County – Rushed for 229 yards with four touchdowns and had 12 tackles as Franklin County beat South Dearborn.

Nate McCoy, Gallatin County – Scored three times on a run, a reception, and a kickoff return; amassed 256 all-purpose yards and had three interceptions in the Wildcats’ win over Carroll County.

Matt McDonald, Lebanon – Racked up 295 yards with three touchdowns as the Warriors defeated Xenia. McDonald came into the game with just 153 yards on the ground through five contests.

Peyton Ramsey, Elder – Passed for 201 yards, rushed for 84 yards and had a key touchdown pass as the Panthers got a rare win at St. Xavier.

Jonathan Scruggs, Holmes – Turned in a big effort with 293 yards and four touchdowns as Bulldogs won a wild one over Bellevue, 42-36.

DeTuan Smith-Moore, Colerain – The explosive Smith scored three times on runs of 99 and 65 yards and a 81-yard reception while rushing for 271 yards on 14 carries vs. Princeton.

Mikel Winkfield, North College Hill – Accounted for 362 yards of total offense, including 257 yards with three touchdowns on the ground and had a 65-yard punt return for a score against New Miami.
