Sycamore junior quarterback Greg Simpson was named the TSF 2012 Cincy Offensive Player of the Year.

Sycamore signal-caller Greg Simpson was crowned as our Cincinnati Offensive Player of the Year as TriStateFootball.com paid tribute to finest from the Cincinnati area’s high school gridiron at the Year In Review Show on Thursday night downtown at the Holy Grail on the Banks.

It marked the third straight year that a quarterback from the GMC has walked away with the award.

Simpson electrified crowds all year long rushing for 1,915 yards and passing for 1,024 more while accounting for 41 total touchdowns (28 rushing, 13 passing). Ten times in 11 outings he ran for at least 127 yards, seven of those were for more than 181, including a 262-yard outburst against Fairfield. He found the end zone via the run in every affair and at least three times on six occasions. Six times in the last nine contests he accounted for at least four touchdowns

The junior led the Aviators to 9-2 record with their only two losses by seven points to Colerain during the regular season and by seven at Elder in the first round of the playoffs. It was the second consecutive trip to the postseason for Sycamore and sixth overall.

Other finalists included Tyree Elliott (Mount Healthy), Austin Ernst (McNicholas), Connor Jansen (Turpin), Alfred Ramsby (Colerain), Chris Schroer (Elder) and Keith Watkins (Moeller).
