After leading Newport Central Catholic to two state titles in three seasons as the team’s head coach, Eddie Eviston will be leaving his alma mater to coach at another.
Mutltiple sources tell TSF that the 32-year old Eviston has accepted a position to serve as the offensive coordinator at Georgetown College, where he starred as a college quarterback.
He was named the NAIA National Player of the Year three straight times while leading the Tigers to two national titles from 1999 through 2001. Now Eviston will take over the team’s offense.
Eviston posted a 35-8 record atop the ‘Breds program and developed a great reputation as offensive play caller during that time.
NewCath will now begin just their second coaching search in 47 years, but will not likely dig in until after the holiday break when school resumes on January 7.
After starting the season at 2-4, NewCath finished out the year with nine straight wins on their way to being crowned as Kentucky’s Class 2A state champs.
