FAVC Buckeye: Recruiting Wrap

By Dan Clasgens | Managing Editor

Winton Woods quarterback Dominique Brown opted for Louisville over Cincinnati and Ohio State.

National Signing Day was very busy around the Tri-state as several local players signed their Letters of Intent. The Fort Ancient Valley’s Buckeye Division garnered its share of the spotlight.

Winton Woods quarterback Dominique Brown, the Ohio Division II Co-Offensive Player of the Year, wound up at Louisville. He will get a crack at staying quarterback there, something that Cincinnati, Ohio State, and Georgia Tech did not commit to.

Brown, who rushed for 1,998 yards last year, helped guide Winton Woods to a state championship. He could get a crack to start under center for the Cardinals as a freshman.

"Nothing's ever out of the question," Louisville head coach Charlie Strong told the Courier Journal. "We'll get him in here and give him a chance to compete. We have some good quarterbacks in our program right now and they'll be getting their opportunity this spring. We will see what happens."

Warriors’ head coach Troy Everhart said that wide receiver Juan Glover, who was originally looking at Louisville is now likely to land at Cincinnati. Teammates Avery Cunningham (Central Michigan) and Bryan McCorkle (Tiffin) also signed on Wednesday.

Four-star tackle Andrew Norwell of Anderson committed to Ohio State over a year ago. Despite a season-ending injury, the senior made it official by inking with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.

Fellow Redskins, offensive lineman Greg Mancz (Toledo) and defensive back Kevin Cripe (Butler), will also play at the next level.

Loveland saw four seniors sign. Dustin Brown (Georgetown College), Matt Eltringham (Hillsdale College), Mason Scheeler, and Isaac Spence (Hillsdale College), will all play at the next level.
