2013 Snapshot: South Dearborn

By Greg Shoemaker | Featured Analyst

All-EIAC linebacker Brad Bruner led South Dearborn in tackles as a junior.

It’s time to kick off our EIAC Week coverage here at TSF with a look at the 2013 edition of the South Dearborn Knights.

Just when things looked like they were going in the right direction head coach Eric Lows and South Dearborn program hit a speed bump in 2012. The Knights finished the year 0-10 and looked nothing like the team that won seven of their last nine tilts in 2011.

Getting things back on track will be priority number one this fall as a wide open EIAC is there for the taking.

Class 4A, Section15

2012 RECORD: 0-10, 0-5
COACH: Eric Lows (20-31 @ South Dearborn, five years, 20-31 overall)

HONOR ROLL
Brad Bruner, SR, DE/LB - Bruner led the Knights in tackles a year ago on his way to All-EIAC honors. He is a beast and could very well be a finalist for the EIAC Defensive Player of the Year with a great showing in 2013.

OTHER RETURNEES
Tanner Anderson, JR, K/P – It will be a huge blessing if Anderson’s foot can change field position a couple of time per game.

Austin Jefferson, SR, TE/DE – The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Jefferson needs to be a force both catching and blocking this fall.

Josh Proctor, SR, RB - One of the league’s top runners Proctor is poised for a 1,000-yard campaign.

Zach Streur, JR, RB - Streur is an asset in all phases of the game. He brings a nice change of pace in the backfield to compliment Proctor.

NEWCOMERS
Daemon Lane, JR, LB – The program’s JV Defensive Player of the Year, Lane will be counted on to help improve a South Dearborn defense that allowed 38.1 points per game in 2012.

Trent Moorehead, SR, - Moorehead has had success at the lower levels now he gets his chance to start under center for the Knights this fall.

Caleb Rudisill, SO, LB – The young linebacker was named the freshman team MVP in 2012.

PLAYOFF HISTORY
(Overall post-season record, 10-28)

2013 SCHEDULE
Seven of the Knights nine regular season games will be against league foes. Non-conference affairs versus Madison and Muncie South will not be easy...FULL SCHEDULE

ELUSIVE SECTIONAL TITLE
South Dearborn and Connersville are the only members of the EIAC to never win a Sectional Championship. The last time the Knights won a playoff game was back in 2009.
