2013 Snapshot: Anderson

Alex Pfeiffer will anchor the Anderson offensive line in 2013.




We kickoff our 2013 coverage with the first of many TSF Conference Weeks with an in-depth look at the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.

Turpin captured the ECC in the conference’s first season, but this year things appear to be more wide open. One of the teams hoping to make a run at finishing at the top is the Anderson Redskins.

While they lost a strong group of senior’s Jeff Giesting’s bunch has a nice corps of players returning.

COACH: Jeff Giesting (52-21, six years @ Anderson, 52-21 overall)


HONOR ROLL
Kevin Rogers, SR, QB – Rogers earned First-Team All-ECC honors as a junior after throwing for 1,142 yards, rushing for 799 more and accounting for 19 total touchdowns (13 passing; six rushing). His career numbers are even more impressive - 1,387 PaYds, 17 PaTDs, 1,437 RuYds & 12 RuTDs

Josh Correll, SR, DB – Correll had 55 total tackles in 2012 2nd Team All-ECC as junior.

Evan Lackner, SR, LB – The 2013 team captain registered 18 total tackles and had a fumble recovery as a junior.

Alex Pfeiffer, SR, OL – The 6-foot-5, 270 pound big man has college coaches very interested.

Evan Spangler, SR, RT - He provides good all-round blocking in both the passing and rushing attack.


OTHER RETURNEES
Tim Combes, SR, NT - Combes will be a key ingredient in helping the Redskins' D stop the run.

Shelby Wilson, SR, LB - Giesting expects Wilson's role to expand in 2013.

Austin Fucito. JR, RB – In just seven games Faucito amassed 468 all-purpose yards while finding the end zone twice.

AJ Penley, JR, K - 25/34 XPs, 1/1 FGs for 28 points as a sophomore.


NEWCOMERS
Dylan Smith, SO, QB - The athletic sophomore-to-be has created quite a buzz at previous levels.

2013 SCHEDULE
Only three teams on the Redskins schedule had losing records in 2012, The combined record of their 2013 foes was 62-44 (.584%) a year ago...FULL SCHEDULE


GETTING OVER THE HUMP
Eight of Anderson’s 13 losses over the past two season have been by eight points or fewer. Last year was the first time that the Redskins had been outscored by their opponents during Giesting’s tenure as head coach.
