Thompson Moving On

By Dan Clasgens | Managing Editor

Rick Thompson has resigned from Boone County to join the staff at Mount St. Joe's.

For the first time in 15 years Boone County is looking for a head football coach as Rick Thompson has resigned from the post to pursue an opportunity to coach at the collegiate level.

Thompson, 51, enjoyed a great span of success over the past decade and half after taking the program over from Northern Kentucky coaching legend Owen Hauck in 1998.

The Rebels went 94-83 during his reign over the program. During his tenure, Thompson took his team to three state finals and enjoyed a span of ten straight winning seasons (1999-08).

The school has to post the job for 30 days and hopes to name a new coach in March.
