Dayton Defensive POY: Mike McCray


Trotwood-Madison's Mike McCray was named the TSF Dayton Player of the Year for the second straight season.

TriStateFootball.com paid tribute to finest from the Dayton area’s high school gridiron at the Year In Review Show on Wednesday night at Cadillac Jack’s in Centerville.

For a second straight season Trotwood-Madison linebacker Mike McCray was named our Dayton Defensive Player of the Year. The two-time First-Team All-Ohio and University of Michigan-bound senior capped of a great career with plenty of accolades which also include AP DII Defensive Player of the Year and GWOC North Defensive Player of the Year. He was in on 121 total tackles with 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and interception. On offense he caught 19 passes for 369 yards and four touchdowns.

McCray was in the middle of the most prosperous era in Rams’ football history. Trotwood-Madison made appearances in the last three state title games while winning a championship ring in 2011. He was member of a class that compiled 48-10 mark and four appearances in the regional finals. McCray had a very productive career with 257 total tackles, nine fumble recoveries, nine interceptions, 225 interception return yards, four interceptions returns for scores, had 59 receptions for 1,061 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns.

Other finalists included Cameron Burrows (Trotwood-Madison), Greg Hart (Alter), Darrien Howard (Chaminade Julienne), Mitchell Larson (Xenia), Airius Moore (Beavercreek) and Trent Smart (Cinton-Massie).
