NewCath Promotes Wagner

By TSF Staff | TRISTATEFOOTBALL.COM

For just the third time in 46 years the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds have named a new head football coach.

The school announced the hiring of defensive coordinator Dan Wagner as the replacement to Eddie Eviston, who resigned after three years at the helm to accept the job as offensive coordinator at Georgetown College.

Wagner has served over the team’s defense for the past 13 years. His unit was instrumental in NewCath’s claiming their second Class 2A title in three years as they yielded just 16.7 points per game in 2012.
