Smart Named Ohio DIV Defensive POY

By TSF Staff | TRISTATEFOOTBALL.COM

Clinton-Massie defensive lineman, Trent Smart is the 2012 Ohio Division IV Defensive Player of the Year

The Clinton-Massie offense set the state record for points in a season but it was defensive lineman Trent Smart who came away with 2012 Ohio Division IV Defensive Player of the Year honors for the Falcons. The senior led a defense that did not allow more than 14 points in a game during the regular season and posted five shutouts. The Ohio University-bound Smart has registered 46 total tackles with 3.0 sacks, a fumble recovery and two interceptions for an undefeated Clinton-Massie squad who plays for their first state title on Friday afternoon against St. Clairsville in Canton at Fawcett Stadium.
